I am one of those people who can’t put down a good book. In fact, I love long flights because it’s really the only time I get to read good books without any real distraction or feeling that I should be doing something else “more productive” for work. I love the days (usually a rainy Saturday or Sunday) when I just let myself get lost in the pages of a good book. Here are some of my recent and recommended reads:
Behind the Beautiful Forevers – by Katherine Boo
Half the Sky
Mating in Captivity – by Esther Perel
Daring Greatly – by Brene Brown
The Power (highly recommend the audio book for this one)
The Power of Vulnerability – by Brene Brown
Big Magic – by Elizabeth Gilbert
Lean In -by Sheryl Sandberg
A Fist Full of Rice – by Vikran Akula
I am Nujood: Age 10 and Divorced – by Nujood Ali
Mountains Beyond Mountains – by Tracy Kidder
Tragic Mountains: The Hmong, the Americans, and the Secret Wars for Laos – by Jane Hamilton-Merritt
How to Change the World, Social Entrepreneurs & the Power of New Ideas – by David Bornstein
Gaviotas: A Village to Reinvent the World – by Alan Weisman
Mi Pais Inventado (in english – My Invented Country) – by Isabell Allende (both Spanish & English are good)
Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life – by Jon Lee Anderson
Our Stolen Future: Are we Threatening our Fertility, Intelligence & Survival? – by Theo Colburn, Dianne Dumanoski, & John Peterson Myers
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man – by John Perkins
El Pais Bajo mi Piel (in english – The Country Under by Skin) – by Gioconda Belli (Both Spanish & English are good)
